Getting a kick out of working out

So we all know that running is a great way to blast calories.  But not all of us (me included) love logging miles.  But what if I told you there’s a different and even better way to get fit?

It’s not wishful thinking.  According to Danish researchers, playing recreational soccer is actually better than running for women.

Playing soccer requires a commitment to a fixed date, time and team mates.  Running, on the other hand, is more flexible.  This means you’re more likely to blow off a run than a soccer game.  And if you’re not skipping workouts, you’re exercising more frequently and we all know what that leads.

And the benefits of soccer aren’t just physical.  The sport also improves motivation and increases a woman’s ability to create and maintain friendships.

So make like Marta and make soccer your goal! (I couldn’t resist.)
