The DNA Diet

No, it’s not the latest fad diet (like the Blood Type diet), but it soon could be.

In a small study of 101 women, researchers at Stanford University found women who were recommended a diet based on their genes and stuck with it, lost 2-3 times more weight than regular dieters.  The diets were either  very low carbohydrate, low carbohydrate/high protein, and low or very low fat.

It’s not a stretch to think our genes affect how we process foods.  Lactose intolerance, for example, is more prevalent in African-American and Asian communities.

But the research is still in its early stages and it’ll be years before we see the science marketed commercially.

My question is will people actually follow the diet they’re “prescribed”?
