Why a lack of sleep is a health nightmare

Do you get less than 6-8 hours of sleep a night?  If the answer is yes, then I hate to break it to you, but you’re not going to live as long as the rest of us. (sorry!)

Italian and British researchers warn that people banking less than 6 hours of zzzs a night were 12 percent more likely to die over a 25 year period than those who got 8.  And if 8 hours of sleep is good for you, 9 or more must be better right?  Dead wrong.  These same scientists say there’s a direct relationship between sleeping more than 9 hours and an early death.

So the magic number seems to be 8.  But how many of us consistently hit that mark every night?  Not many people I know.  Although I’ll take this as an excuse to unplug and hit the sack early.
